Sure, you could use one of our suggested color palettes but that’s been done before.

We want to feature your original Sketch Garden creations!

Use any medium or even mixed media— watercolor, pastels, Copics, colored pencils. Then share your recipe with Sketch Garden fans!

Note: your project must use an original color palette or a unique interpretation of the line art to be featured here on the website.

What do we need from you?

To feature your colored Sketch Garden art on this website, we need more than a fast photo from your phone.

We prefer scans over photographs. Scanning provides an accurate version of your colors with crisp details. Scanning is actually easier than taking a photograph because with a camera, correct lighting is essential. It’s rare for colorers to also be expert photographers who capture real color in natural light.

To Scan: Not everyone will have the same computer or the same brand of scanner. Your scanner will have its own unique software but all scanners offer similar settings. Look for the following settings:

  • Image Type: Choose a photograph or graphics type setting rather than a document setting.

  • Color Mode: Your scanner may offer two choices for color. Scan in RGB, not CMYK.

  • Quality: Do not use the general, fast, or quick setting. If you can choose the scanning resolution, choose 300ppi.

  • Size: scan at actual size

Important:

  • Save your project as a JPG (some scanners may say JPEG).

  • Do not edit your project for color, we will do this for you.

  • Do not crop or make any other changes to your project.

  • Do not watermark your project

NOTE: Please do not send files in any format other than JPG. For our security, we absolutely will not download or open any other type of file.

Now tell us about your project:

We will use these details in the Inspiration article—

  • STAMP: (MUST be a Sketch Garden stamp)

  • ARTIST: (your first name, last initial)

  • YOUR WEBSITE/SOCIAL MEDIA: (optional, one location only)

  • PAPER: (brand, weight etc)

  • PRINT SIZE: (size at which line art was printed)

  • PRINTED WITH: (brand of printer used or tracing supplies)

  • STAMP LINES: (opacity level your line art was printed)

  • UNDERPAINT MEDIUM: (Copic, watercolor, pastels etc. include brand and colors used)

  • PRIMARY MEDIUM: (colored pencil, watercolor, pastels etc. include brand and colors used)

  • BE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR FULL RECIPE OF COLORS

Email your JPG plus project details to: info@vanillaarts.com

We will contact you if we select your project for use.

PLEASE NOTE: We’re looking for new and unique interpretations of Sketch Garden line art using original color combinations. We can not feature your project if it uses one of our previous color palettes.
